This limited edition fabric bag was handmade in Louisiana by Carol Ridenour, a medical doctor who launched her textile company called Phoebe Rose after retiring.
For this bag, Carol chose a festive cranberry and blue Indian elephant print. Elephants symbolize wisdom, strength, courage, longevity, patience, honor, and stature in South Asia. We named this bag after the elephant god Ganesha, the most universally worshiped Hindu deity who is believed to embody perfect wisdom and be the remover of obstacles.
The bag is fully lined and has an interior zipped pocket made from a lovely retro calico patterned fabric.
Grandmother’s Buttons accented the bag with a removable brooch. The brooch features two vintage buttons, one resin, and one 1960s plastic. The midcentury buttons are topped with a brass stamping featuring a whimsical elephant, made today in the USA in vintage dies.
There are only four of these bags in existence, so yours will be unique.
