Bellatrix Earrings - Jet GlassRegular price $95.00
The hollow, hand-blown jet glass teardrops showcased in these earrings are extremely rare and collectible. We adore their eggshell delicacy and perfect, lustrous finish.
We discovered these beauties in a warehouse in the New York City Garment district in an unthinkable yet abundant stash of turn-of-the-century jet glass buttons, ornaments, and drops still carefully wrapped in pages from a Paris newspaper dated 1912.
They were likely manufactured by Bohemian glass artisans in the early 20th century. Still, They were marketed and sold as if they were made in France. Not surprising, considering a Paris origin significantly increased an item's fashion quotient.
These drops are sturdy enough to have survived a century. Nonetheless, we recommend you take special care and that you store them in their Grandmother's Buttons box to avoid crushing.
In this piece:
- Hand-blown jet glass drops, circa 1912
- Antiqued brass bead caps stamped today in the USA in vintage dies
- Nickel-free & lead-free brass euro wire closures
- Hangs 2"
