This necklace reminds us of a secret garden with its rare and collectible antique porcelain button depicting a sweet bouquet of hand-painted pastel-colored blooms.

Most Victorian-era porcelain buttons were painted by well-bred women in their parlors. Painting porcelain was a popular domestic art in the late 19th century, similar to needlework or knitting in the 20th century.

Boldly expressing your feelings wasn't socially acceptable in Victorian-era England. Much like modern teenagers with emojis, Victorians expressed their feelings with flowers.

In the Victorian language of flowers, light pink roses mean grace, dark pink roses mean thankfulness, and yellow roses mean joy.

The antique porcelain button is set upon a lustrous mother-of-pearl button. We adore how the silky shimmer of the pearl accentuates the lovely colors of the hand-painted roses.
