This striking necklace is centered by a lampworked Czechoslovakian glass oval cabochon in lovely shades of vintage blue. Lampworked cabochons are created by hand mixing and molding multiple glass colors, such as the royal and light blue tones here.
A pretty blue striped Czech cabochon from the same era hangs at the bottom.
Czech artisans honed their skills for centuries, and then in the early 18th century, they were the first to start pressing hot glass into molds. By the early 20th century, they’d mastered their craft and exported exquisitely detailed glass buttons and cabochons worldwide.
Both cabochons in this necklace were hand-pressed using centuries-old processes. And they both testify to the enduring talents of Czech glass artisans.
