This necklace's delineated geometric shapes and bold green coloring epitomize Art Deco elegance.
Art Deco celebrated the egalitarian values of the optimistic era between the first and second world wars. It was an age when liberated Jazz Age women abandoned Victorian-era societal expectations in favor of manly pleasures like smoking and dancing in nightclubs.
This necklace showcases two hand-pressed vintage glass cabochons manufactured in Germany and Czechoslovakia. We think northern European glass is the most appealing and collectible among 20th-century buttons.
Czech and German button artisans honed their skills for centuries, and then in the early 18th century, were the first to start pressing hot glass into molds. They'd mastered their craft by the early 20th century and exported exquisitely detailed glass buttons worldwide.
The vintage glass cabochons in this necklace were hand-pressed in antique molds and manufactured using centuries-old processes.
We named this necklace after Tamara de Lempicka, a Polish-born artist known for her Art-Deco nudes painted in the salons of Jazz Age Paris. Her work showcases bright, bold colors in a rectilinear style influenced typically by the style.
We think this necklace is the ideal accessory to her iconic self-portrait, Tamara in the Green Bugatti.
