This shimmering bracelet showcases a hand-pressed, vintage German moonglow glass cabochon in a notable shade of aqua blue.
Moonglow glass has an opaque interior, sealed with a clear top, creating a satiny, almost glowing appearance. It was developed by West German button artisans in 1954 and remained popular until the early 1960s.
The moonglow's color reminds us of glacial-fed Lake Moraine near Banff National Park in Canada's Rocky Mountains. Its bright aqua color is among the most unusually colored water in the world.
In this piece:
- Aqua moonglow glass button made in Western Germany, circa 1950
- Tiny vintage, hand-dyed, mother-of-pearl button at the end of the extender chain
- Two decorative brass stampings made today in the USA in vintage dies
- A brass-plated pewter setting made today in the USA
- Antiqued brass chain
- Length 7 ¼” to 8 ¼”
