The vintage lampworked green opal cabochon anchoring this necklace is a stunning example of midcentury Czech glass artistry. Opal glass is created by hand mixing and molding multiple glass colors with tiny pieces of goldstone glass.
The opal is flanked on either side by two modern Czech black glass buttons coated in brilliant iridescent blues and greens.
The modern and midcentury Czech glass buttons were both hand-pressed in antique molds and manufactured using centuries-old processes. All are a testament to the enduring talents of Czech glass artisans, including those still working today.
