This pendant necklace flaunts two lavish mid-century vintage pieces of jet glass (one oval and one octagon), both adorned with imitation silver marcasites.
Marcasites are cut and polished pieces of pyrite, also known as fool's gold. Marcasites jewelry has been around since ancient Greece. However, it reached its trendy zenith with the Art Deco designs in the1930s. This isn’t surprising given its lavish sparkle was perfectly suited to the Jazz Age opulence.
It’s also not surprising that the Czechoslovakian glass and button makers profited from this trend by manufacturing the imitation pressed glass marcasites coated with brilliant silver luster featured in this necklace.
You can wear this necklace long, at 34 inches, or doubled up and clasped in the front at 17 inches.
