This limited edition fabric bag was handmade in Louisiana by Carol Ridenour, who launched her textile company, called Phoebe Rose, after retiring from her career as a medical doctor.
For this bag, Carol chose an indigo-colored, modern patchwork Kantha fabric. Kanthas are quilts made by Indian artisans out of worn saris. Typically they feature many layers sewn together with a simple running stitch in a tradition that is over five hundred years old.
This one is hand-stitched with new fabric, is fully lined, and features a zipped pocket with a delightful green and indigo polka dot pattern.
We added a removable brooch made with vintage resin and casein buttons topped with a one-of-a-kind, century-old cut steel button.
There are only five of these bags in existence.
