Konfetti is, not surprisingly, the German word for confetti, and it makes an apt name for this glittering bracelet with its midcentury blue confetti opal glass oval. Opal glass is created by hand mixing and molding multiple glass colors with tiny pieces of goldstone glass.
This oval is a remarkable example of the talents of midcentury German glassmakers.
Czechoslovakia annexed Northern Bavaria after WWII, and so the resident German glassmakers fled and set up workshops in their new West German communities. They built a thriving glass button industry, and by 1950 West Germany was considered the glass button capital of the world.
