Parisienne Butterfly - Insects
This pendant necklace includes a rare and delightful Paris back button. Made in the late nineteenth century, Paris back buttons are two-piece brass buttons marked with their place of origin - PARIS. Many also include a manufacturer’s name, such as A.P. & C. or T.W.L.
Paris buttons of this large size are rare so we were thrilled to find six of them. We adore how the graceful butterfly and flower flounts some ornamental Art Nouveau elements hinting at a style that was to become popular around 1890.
The button hangs from a simple brass swag on a hand-wrapped seed pearl chain.
In this piece:
- Paris-back brass button circa 1890
- Stamped brass setting and three ring swag, both made in the USA in vintage dies
- Hand-wrapped seed pearl chain
- Length is 17” with a 4” extender
