This gorgeous limited edition vintage fabric handbag is the product of a creative collaboration between retired medical doctor Carol Ridenour and our founder Susan Davis.
When Carol retired, she founded Phoebe Rose to pursue her lifelong passion for sewing and textiles. She now creates tote bags from collectible upholstery fabric and vintage Central Asian tribal textiles.
Last fall, Susan, a perennial collector, visited Carol's studio and shared a fabric collection she accumulated over decades of hunting for antique buttons.
Susan found the vintage cut velvet upholstery fabric used in this bag at an antique fair in Texas. Manufactured in the 1970s, it was still on its original bolt. Carol lined this bag with a sweetly complimentary avocado green dotted cotton.
Grandmother's Buttons added a removable brooch made from a vintage resin button and a lovely hand-pressed Czech glass bead.
