Striped Moonglow Earrings
These lovely drop earrings show off two striped moonglow glass ovals that together exemplify the artistic apex of mid-century German glassmakers.
Moonglow glass was invented in the 1950s and is characterized by a billowy, silky opaque interior sealed with a clear glass top. In the most sophisticated examples, the interior flaunts two-color stripes.
Moonglow glass is increasingly rare and difficult to find so we were over the moon (pun intended) to find the lavender and jet drops featured in these earrings on our last button hunting trip.
In this piece:
- Striped moonglow drop made in Western Germany circa the 1950s
- Czech jet crystal
- Stamped brass pronged setting made in vintage dies in the USA
- Nickel-free and lead-free brass euro wire closures
- Hangs 1 1/2”
